Human Resource Development for Education Research Lab.

Takayoshi Maki, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in Human Resource Development for Education at Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Hiroshima University, Japan. His primary research interest is in teacher education reforms, particularly in Thailand, where he was an exchange student at Chulalongkorn University for a year, a visiting researcher at the Ministry of Education for eight months, and a visiting scholar at School of Social Innovation Mae Fah Luang University for a month in 2019 and 2020. Currently, he leads a research project on comparative study on teacher educators’ identity and professional lives in Asia and Africa supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Also, he involved in a variety of research projects, such as teacher policy, oversea ethnic Chinese, disparities of education, and implantation of Japanese style education to overseas with particular focus on KOSEN (a unique institute of technology of Japan). His research laboratory consists of both traditional and non-traditional teacher educators of Asia and Africa, and strives to be a collective entity of truth-seekers who are strongly motivated, operating by the motto ‘research as my daily meal.’
